2008 Mitsubishi Evo X GSR
Shifter Kart Racing – This was my opportunity to race after spending many years at driving events. I built a Honda 250cc Trackmagic to practice in and shortly after built a Modified Honda 125cc Trackmagic to race in the “open” class. Within the first 3 events I was ranked 2nd in the state and continued to podium until I bruised my ribs and had to take 6 months off from racing. Formula Mazda - A good friend of mine raced Mazdas and asked if I wanted to do a “test” day at Gingerman Raceway. I could not afford to race Mazdas at the time but I wanted to know what it was like to drive a purpose built race car. It was an older car with worn tires but I managed to consistently turn laps which would have put me mid pack on the grid. Evo X – the second day after purchasing this bone stock car, I competed in an SCCA Time Trial event at Pueblo Raceway. I finished 6th, surrounded by heavily modified BMWs, STIs and Corvettes. This was a new and small event for SCCA, but it showed me how competitive this car would be with more grip, additional horsepower and prepped suspension. I want to thank Ryan Gates for his assistance, insight and motivation. He solidified my decision to own an Evo X and compete in Time Trial events.
Some of the past cars I had the previlege of owning
One of my favorite cars and projects. Lots of AC Schnitzer carbon fiber, Moton triple adj coilovers and Kinesis 3pc wheels.
I waited over a year for this GTR which was the 3rd car in the state. It really was an amazing car, very fast and easy to drive. This was my first car with a paddle shift but I have to say I still enjoy a manual tranny. Yes, it's easier to drive on the street and track, but wasn't as involved or fun becuase of the DSG. |
